The rifles lay empty on the dust,
the grenades shattered into pieces.
A body on top of another, multiple times over,
The war, it never really ended.
Sons' and daughters' of the earth,
lost and won with arms.
Took over countries,
But also shortened family trees.
As the concept of empty nest grew,
it also came by rapidly;
For parents all over the world,
war, was a personal tragedy.
While the coffee in the kettle brew,
they were served the bitter truth:
Their kids had fought valiantly,
But unfortunately, could not make it through.
