World Photography Day

WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY

Celebrating 176 years of photography this August 2015, August 19th has been selected as the day to celebrate this extremely memorable day.

Photography is an invention that has revolutionised the way we see, perceive and record the world. The process of capturing reality and saving it as a photograph was initially started in 1839.

Now, 176 years later the process has reached the sky and beyond. World photography day is all about celebrating photography and how special this art form can be. We take photographs for granted, but till a century or two back, there was no such thing as a camera, or a printed picture. At that time memories couldn't be captured the way they can now.

On 19th august 1839, the French government purchased and patented the invention of print and announced the invention as a gift free to the world.

Muddy Eyes.

I said He had nice eyes,
electric blue,
tinge of grey,
different.

I said I have plain brown eyes,

muddy,
dirty,
brown eyes.
Common.

He said not to worry,

I had nice eyes too.
Like the soil of a forest,
fresh, fertile, exciting,
adventurous, like a camp site.

READ ANOTHER POEM HERE

Can It Be? (To Be Read Aloud By Fiction Lovers In A Panic Stricken Voice)

What if it's all true. ALL of it, the superheroes and the magic and whenever there is lightning and thunder and earthquakes and all that, it's actually just a sign of something bad happening soon, but the weather reporters along with their colleagues are all on 'THE' side of the wizards and heroes in some way or the other, and manipulate us by saying it's a storm.

Imagine this: The scriptwriters, authors, directors and producers of motion pictures are ALL something from the respective movies that they make, and thats how they get the ideas, and mock us further by telling us all this but in a manner of a fiction piece.

This would mean that we have to face the truth; we didn't receive our Hogwarts letter at 11, didn't get a brain like Sherlock AND EVERYTHING ELSE, like the hunger games, divergent, urgh.

BUT this would also imply that Hogwarts is real, along with Percy Jackson, The Avengers, and S.H.I.E.L.D and Hulk, Captain America and Iron man.

Can it be true? Those noises you hear at night, thinking it's a cat, could be Professor McGonagall.

Sleep tight :)

Math I Hate

We've been together since god knows when,
And apparently it’ll be like that forever.
At least that’s what the teachers told me,
And so did my “well wishers”
But you have to understand,
That this can’t happen, oh ever!

At the mere thought of you, like on a chilly day, dude do I shiver!

Moreover,

I don’t like you very much,
So tell me, what’s the point?
I’d rather go through something new,
Than go through your endless theories.
That too theories you've told a billion others,
Theories that I couldn't bother with.
So tell me,
Please tell me my  DEAR  math textbook,
What IS the point?

“To be or not to be” that is what I’m interested in, not Euclid’s geometry, not Pythagoras’s theorem.
So tell me, please tell me,
What is the point?

I see no point in sticking up with you for another 2 years,
Especially when I have the choice.
So might as well just drop you in the coming year,
And for the one after that.

“You’ll need  HIM  it in the future, for your SAT s and your life”, say people.
I say “go away and read  HIM  it then”, I’m not so gullible.

So I don’t know whether I should apologise to you or not,
considering the fact that you dislike me
and I dislike you,
I think I’m right in leaving you,
And you,
in leaving me.

LIFE STORIES #5 - I'm Taller

They were at it again.
“I’m taller”
“NOOOO, I’m taller!”
“What is wrong with you, blind or what? I’m taller and you know it!”
Rhea and Raza, twins. Identical twins. Although they loved each other to bits, their parents got the dose of sibling rivalry, as all others do, everyday. And the best part- they didn’t need a “topic” to fight on and pull the others hair, the atmosphere was very competitive. So everyday it was
“Oh she has that dress, I’m sure it’ll look much better on me.” Or, “Oh I’m sure I play better basketball than her.”
Today, it was their heights.
Urgh, and they’re just 10 years old! What will happen in the teenage years?

Tu sharaab, mein sharaabi

Tu sharaab, mein sharaabi.
तू शराब, मैं शराबी
(Hindi for you're alcohol, I'm a alcoholic)

If you're alcohol, I'll be the alcoholic.
Addicted,
Obsessed,
Driven by you.

Let me be with you,
And explore the world.
Wild,
Untamed,
Driven around by you.

Work your magic on me,
And if I have any, I'll work mine on you.

Drive your fire into me,
And I'll drive it out of you.

DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
BE SAFE.

LIFE STORIES #4

It was 12:42 am. He lay down, staring at the ceiling fan. It was going clockwise at the speed of 1.
It was as slow as a tortoise, and barely any air was being circulated around the room.
It was just March, yet it was boiling in the room. Or maybe it was because of the splitting headache that he had.

12:58 am. He closed his eyes. It wasn't that dark outside as one would expect it to be, at least at this time. He could hear a car coming into his otherwise quiet, traffic-free lane. The car was travelling fast, the screeches of the tires were telling him. It continued to move in the direction of his house and just for a split second was in front of his house. And just like that, with another screech, it sped away. In the distance, he heard the car’s horn and a split second later a dog’s whimper, then a bark, the car probably chased by the sleep deficient stray dog. Sleep deficient as she had 2 pups, and would growl and bark at whomsoever would pass.

He woke up with a start, not even realising he had fallen asleep.
2:13 am.
He grunted while turning to his left side, back now towards the clock. His skull-breaking-apart headache was now over, and he was finally at peace.
He covered himself with his blanket, nose and eyes peeping out.
2:37 am. He closed his eyes. Thought about the speeding car and the chasing dog, and fell asleep.

There was a strange beeping sound, playing at a regular interval; it was his irritating phone ringtone, the alarm.
6:15 am.
Time to get ready for work.
